Widely respected among my peers, judges and prosecutors throughout Colorado, Dana brings more than 30-years of experience to every case. She has tried in excess of 100 jury trials, litigated countless motions, and negotiated favorable pleas for her clients. Dana started practicing law and defending the rights of the accused since 1991. With a family legacy of public service, Dana became intensely interested in human rights and advocating for those in need. Helping people was not a conscious choice she made –rather it was simply a way of life. Dana’s drive toward public service naturally manifested itself into a career in criminal defense after graduating from Colorado College in 1986.
During law school at the University of Denver, Dana discovered a gift for courtroom advocacy. Having served in the Public Defender’s offices in both Riverside County, California and later Arapahoe County, Colorado, Dana developed a strong expertise in defending all varieties of criminal cases. In order to devote more time and attention to each and every client, Dana left the Public Defender’s Office in 2002 for private practice.
Dana is currently a member of the Colorado State Bar; the California Bar and the United States District Court of Colorado. Dana received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Colorado College with a double major in Political Science and Economics.
Dana represents indigent clients both as a member of the Alternate Defense Counsel for the State of Colorado and the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the United States District Court. Dana is a member of the Colorado Bar Association; Denver Bar Association; Colorado Criminal Defense Bar; Colorado Women’s Bar Association; and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Dana also mentors law students and volunteers regularly for the 9-news law line, fielding questions from the public about criminal law.
In 2019 Dana was recognized as one of the Super Lawyers in Colorado in criminal law. She is also Lead Counsel Rated with the approval of the Lead Counsel Review Board in the area of criminal law.
